Call for External Evaluation Expert – Contested Desires: Constructive Dialogues

The Contested Desires: Constructive Dialogues (CDCD) consortium is looking for an Evaluation Expert with a strong background in cultural exchange and participation. This freelance role involves advising on data collection and contributing to reports, supporting the programme evaluation rather than conducting it. The evaluation itself will be carried out by the consortium.

About the Project

CDCD is a three-year programme (2024-2026), co-funded by the EU Creative Europe programme, that engages contemporary artists to examine the legacy of European colonialism as reflected in museum collections and heritage sites. Through fostering conversations between artists, cultural professionals, researchers, and visitors, CDCD aims to explore historical narratives from an intersectional perspective. This multi-partner project seeks to understand how artists and arts organizations can collaborate with communities to create dialogues, exhibitions, events, and other activities that promote a deeper understanding of the colonial past and its meanings in a multicultural Europe.

Role and Responsibilities

The selected Evaluation Expert will provide an external and independent perspective, supporting ECCOM (Italy), the project leader, in the following tasks:

  • Review relevant project documentation and evaluation data.
  • Participate in online meetings with ECCOM and other partners to discuss evaluation processes, data interpretation, and relevant issues.
  • Attend four in-person project activities/events and draft short reports (5 pages each).
  • Review the CDCD Evaluation Plan and two internal interim reports, providing feedback on quality and impact assessment.
  • Contribute to drafting the final evaluation report, identifying key insights and recommendations for future projects.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • Over 5 years of professional experience in project evaluation, with a focus on quality and outcomes, using both qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Professional experience in projects related to cultural exchange and participation. Familiarity with the Creative Europe programme is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening, constructive feedback, and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Residency in an EU country or the UK.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in English (level C1).
  • Flexibility to travel during the evaluation period (September 2025 to December 2026).

Submission Details

Applicants should submit their proposals by June 28th, 2024 at 17:00 (CET) to Pascuala Migone at migone@eccom.it, including:

  • Introductory letter (max. 2 pages, PDF) detailing your experience, suitability, and interest in the project.
  • CV in English (max. 3 pages, PDF) highlighting relevant experience and qualifications.

Remuneration

The total remuneration for this role is 10,000 euros (VAT and social charges included). Travel and accommodation expenses will be covered separately by the consortium.
